Santa Spends the Holiday Season at the New Egypt Flea Market Village

11/23/2017

Picture
Once again this year, Santa is visiting his home-away-from-home here at the New Egypt Flea Market Village.  Bring your Christmas list and favorite wish to share with Santa.

Santa arrives at the Market on Small Business Saturday, November 25th at 10 am.  He knows how hard his elves work and that every small business owner works just as hard.  So, this year, he’s making his first trip down from the North Pole to help the New Egypt Flea Market Village celebrate Small Business Saturday.

But that’s not his only visit to the New Egypt Flea Market Village!  He’ll be at the Market in Building 6E several times throughout the holidays for photos and to hear what your wish is for Christmas.  He’ll even give us a special treat on December 3rd when he visits the Poetry and Arts Barn, Building #43, to read “’Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

Here’s Santa’s Schedule:
Saturday, November 25th, 10 am to 2pm – Bring your wish list and camera for a photo.
Sunday, November 26th, 10 am to 2 pm – Bring your wish list and camera for a photo.
Sunday, December 3rd,  10 am to Noon – Bring your wish list and camera for a photo.
Sunday, December 3rd, 1 pm – Santa reads “’Twas the Night Before Christmas”
Sunday, December 10th,  10 am to Noon – Bring your wish list and camera for a photo.
Sunday, December 17th,  10 am to Noon – Bring your wish list and camera for a photo.
Sunday, December 24th,  10 am to Noon – Christmas Eve -Bring your wish list and camera for a photo.

And maybe if we’re all really good and get on Santa’s “Nice List”, he might just give us a reading of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” on Christmas Eve!
Picture
There’s no charge for visiting Santa at his holiday home-away-from-home in Building 6E or joining us while he reads “’Twas the Night Before Christmas" ...but there is a little jar in case you’d like to drop in some funds to help Mrs. Clause buy more baking supplies.  Santa is on a strict cookie diet, and boy, does Mrs. Clause have to do a lot of baking all year round.

There are over 40 shops at the New Egypt Flea Market Village that will be open from 8 am to 2pm every day that Santa is here (plus Wednesdays while Santa is off checking on things back at the North Pole).  We hope you’ll get some of your holiday shopping done while you’re at the Market.

While we know it’s tempting for parents to want to have a little alone time to go shopping, we do require that an adult remain with children while visiting Santa.
You can find out more about Santa’s visits at the Almost Not A Mess Facebook Page.

For details on Santa reading “’Twas the Night Before Christmas,” visit the Poetry and Arts Barn’s Facebook Page.

The New Egypt Flea Market Village is open every Wednesday and Sunday from 8 am to 2pm, year-round, rain or shine.  We’re one of the last of the old-time markets featuring 40+ buildings each an independently run shop, plus plenty of table vendors with everything from antiques, vintage toys, furniture, handcrafted goods, homemade jams and jellies, great bargains on new items, and thrifty second-hand finds.

October Events:  Live Music and Poetry

9/28/2017

Picture
As the summer heat fades and the cool autumn breeze blows in, it’s the perfect time of year to enjoy a day at the new Egypt Flea Market Village.  To make it even better, there will be live music and poetry readings to compliment this beautiful weather.
Picture
October 8th, 2017, you can experience an intimate bluegrass jam under the big tree in the back row.  Almost Not a Mess (building 6E) will be hosting its 4th Annual Bluegrass Jam that day beginning at noon.  There’s no big stage and no tickets needed for this musical experience.  Just come on down to the big tree by building 6E in the back row and pull up a chair to enjoy a mix of live bluegrass, Americana, traditional, and folk music.
Picture
The Poetry and Arts Barn (building 43) is also embracing this beautiful weather with a season full of events.  Every Sunday this fall there will be an open mic poetry reading at 1 pm.  All are welcome to read or just to sit back and listen.  Writers can also enjoy a writer’s group meet up every Wednesday and Sunday from 9am to 11am.  Poets and poetry lovers can pack a sandwich or grab something to eat at the market and gather for a “poetry lunch” each Wednesday and Sunday at the Poetry and Arts Barn.

As always, the market’s nearly 50 shops and numerous table vendors will be open every Wednesday and Sunday from 8am till 2pm.  Enjoy the comfortable temperatures and the autumn colors.  Even the drive to the market this time of year is something to be enjoyed as the leaves of the surrounding woodlands change colors.

The Big Kid Store Hosts a Toy Show & Pop Culture Yard Sale that the Kid In You Won't Want to Miss

9/3/2017

Picture
Mike and Bri are the masterminds behind The Big Kid Store.  In less than two years, they’ve turned an old army barrack at the New Egypt Flea Market Village into a mecca for toy collectors and pop culture lovers.  Fans travel miles to snatch that hard to find item.  The Big Kid Store, located in Building 5W in the back row of the market, is a toy collector’s honey hole filled with everything from comic books, to toys, to video games, and more.
Picture
But Mike and Bri aren’t stopping at just having one of the coolest collectable toy shops in New Jersey.  They’re spilling out of their building and filling the gravel roads of the village with toy vendors and dealers for the first annual Fall Big Kid Toy Show and Pop Culture Yard Sale.
Picture
This outdoor event on September 17th, 2017, features aisles of vintage and modern toys, collectable Star Wars, G.I. Joe, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles items, plus DC and Marvel comics.  There’s also Masters of the Universe, anime, Jurassic Park, horror, transformers, and so much more to be found at the show.

In addition to the rows of toy vendors, the 40+ historic buildings that house nearly 50 shops at the New Egypt Flea Market Village will also be open selling treasures old and new, crafted, crazy, and classy.

With so many toy and pop culture vendors and shops, you’ll want to mark The Fall Big Kid Toy Show and Pop Culture Yard Sale in your calendar as an all-day event.  The show starts at 8 am and it goes until 4 pm.  Admission is free.  Parking is free.

When it comes to taking a lunch break, the show has that covered too.  You’ll find the Corner Bar BQ in the front parking lot selling melt in your mouth BBQ ribs, pulled pork, chicken and more.  You can also head over to Jersey Girls at Building 49 for some affordable comfort food, snacks, and sodas.

If you’re looking to sell, there are a few vendor spaces available and they’re surprisingly affordable.  Toy vendors and pop culture collectors are welcome.  Whether you’re a pro, casual collector, or a first-time vendor, bring your boxes, buckets, totes, and bins.  Spaces are 10x10 and outdoors, so bring your tables and tents.  Vendor set up is at 6am.

As for the cost of a space, here is where the Bid Kid Store really shows their love not just for toys, but for local charities.  A vendor spot costs a simple donation of $15 worth of items for C.A.R.E. (Companion Animal Rescue & Education) and/or The Helping Hands Food Pantry.  You can just pay $15 dollars, but donations are preferred.

To reserve a vendor spot, call The Big Kid Store at 732-359-6328 or email TheBigKidStore@Gmail.com.

Not interested in being a vendor, but still want to donate…kudos to you for being wonderful.  The Big Kid Store will gladly take donations of items for both C.A.R.E. and The Helping Hands Food Pantry.  Just see the list of needed items below and bring your donations to The Big Kid Store during the show.
Picture
That’s right, there’s toys, pop culture and charity.

Here’s a list of items that are most needed:
C.A.R.E.:  Towels, paper towels, cleaning supplies, PUPPY dog food, and treats (NO rawhides or bones)
The Helping Hands Food Pantry:  Non-perishable food and gently used clothing. (Pet food is also accepted.)

Okay, so let’s sum it up:

Smashley Miller Creations and Annie's Oddities Grand Opening Party

8/30/2017

Picture
There’s a new shop at the market full of enchantment, macabre, horror, and pop culture.  Smashley Miller Creations and Annie’s Oddities are the latest additions to the village and they’re kicking things off with grand opening party.

It’s all happening, rain or shine, this Sunday, September 3rd, 8am to 2pm at the New Egypt Flea Market Village, Building 14N.  It’s located at 933 Monmouth Rd, Cream Ridge, NJ 08514 (half way between Philly and Asbury Park).

Don’t worry if you’re not an early bird.  Things will be kicking into full gear around noon, so you can snooze a little and still catch it all.

Nathan Dickinson is bringing the live music.  Derek Kravitz, a cosplay artist, will be there in character.  The BBQ grill will be cooking.
Picture
Of course, while you’re there, you’ve got to do some shopping.  Handmade incense, mixed media art, pop art paddles and boxes, clothes, handmade accessories, bottle incense holders, fairy houses…it’s all there and ready for you to shop your wild heart out.

There’s over 40 shops in the village and the party is in a little corner that’s a bit tricky to find.  So, here’s the layout and X marks the spot for where it’s all going down.
Picture
While you’re here enjoying the party, you might want to wander through the village and head over to another one of our newest shops, the Mystic Market.  Located in the back row in building 4E, Lisa carries meaningful items for a variety of spiritual paths.
Picture
There’s always a positive vibe in her shop which is full of candles, crystals, statues, and more.  Angel cards are available and Lisa can intuitively show you how they work.
Picture
If you’ve never been to the New Egypt Flea Market Village before, this Sunday is a great day to see what our diverse village has to offer.  There’s everything from antiques, crystals, clothes, vintage, handcrafted goods, collectable toys and more.  There’s a poetry barn for poets and writers.  A musician’s room for musicians.  There's even a Center of Light and Gratitude for meditation and reiki.

Don’t let the name “flea market” fool you.  Come out for the party, shop your wild heart out at Smashley Miller Creations and Annie’s Oddities and then get lost in the village.
