The Olde Crow Antiques & Collectables Opens at the New Egypt Flea Market Village

11/6/2017

Karen and Bill Riley have just transformed building 35A into a cozy and beautiful shop called The Olde Crow Antiques & Collectables.  It’s filled with antiques, country and primitive décor, and even handcrafted canes and walking sticks.

The timing couldn’t be better.  Their shop is stocked full of heartfelt and unique items that are perfect for the holiday gift giving season.  Karen has an eye for heartwarming treasures.  There’s plenty of country and primitive items and décor.  You’ll find everything from tiny trinkets for stocking stuffers, to gift size items (perfect for housewarmings), and plenty of treasures to decorate your own home.

Bill is the craftsman.  He hand makes stunning canes from diamond willow branches.  You can take a peek into his little corner workshop where he transforms rare diamond willow branches from the far North into gorgeous walking canes.  He also creates hardy walking sticks from 130-year-old wooden tobacco hangers.  These tobacco sticks are super solid and once were used on farms to hang and try tobacco leaves.  Bill has rescued them and given them a great new purpose as hardy walking sticks.

The Olde Crow Antiques & Collectables Shop is just one of over 40 shops in the New Egypt Flea Market Village where you can find everything old, new, handcrafted, and gently used.  The market is open every Wednesday and Sunday, year-round, from 8 am to 2pm.

The New Egypt Flea Market Village is open every Wednesday and Sunday from 8 am to 2pm, year-round, rain or shine.  We’re one of the last of the old-time markets featuring 40+ buildings each an independently run shop, plus plenty of table vendors with everything from antiques, vintage toys, furniture, handcrafted goods, homemade jams and jellies, great bargains on new items, and thrifty second-hand finds.

Five-Star Reviews for the Corner Bar BQ Grill at the New Egypt Flea Market Village

10/6/2017

This summer The Corner Bar BQ, with its custom smoker and grill, began serving up a mouthwatering menu of smoked ribs, chicken, pulled pork, home baked breads, breakfast essentials, and comfort foods.  Since its arrival at the New Egypt Market, it’s received nothing but five-star reviews.

Owner and chef of the Corner Bar BQ, David Elliott, is a culinary arts instructor at Hudson County College in Jersey City.  You can taste his culinary talents in every bite from the perfectly smoked stacks of ribs to his own baked loafs of Texas toast.
Picture
You can find the Corner Bar BQ in the front parking lot of the New Egypt Flea Market Village.  The grill is fired up and the smoker is cooking every Wednesday and Sunday year-round from 8am to 2pm.  Breakfast starts around 8:30 am and the lunch/dinner menu is ready by noon.

While most folks pull up a seat at the picnic tables on the hill, others put their order in, do some shopping in the market and take home a delicious dinner.

You’ll always find smoked ribs, chicken, and pulled pork.  But that’s not all.  Burgers, breakfast essentials, corn bread, pies, mac and cheese, chili, Texas toast loafs, and other culinary creations also find their way onto the menu.

There’s over 40 shops in the village and the party is in a little corner that’s a bit tricky to find.  So, here’s the layout and X marks the spot for where it’s all going down.

While you’re here enjoying the party, you might want to wander through the village and head over to another one of our newest shops, the Mystic Market.  Located in the back row in building 4E, Lisa carries meaningful items for a variety of spiritual paths.

There’s always a positive vibe in her shop which is full of candles, crystals, statues, and more.  Angel cards are available and Lisa can intuitively show you how they work.

Beating the Brutal Heat with Iced BrutaliTEAs

7/14/2017

Picture
When it’s 90 degrees, cool off with a 90’s rock pun like “Sage Against the Machine.”  Not sure what we mean?  Don’t worry.  You’re about to find out and we’re sure you’re going to love it.  (We did.)

This June, BrutaliTeas opened their first shop right here at the New Egypt Flea Market Village.  Their irresistible artisan blends of tea cleverly named with heavy metal puns were a hit from the start.  Last October, they began making the rounds to rocking events like the Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market and Monster Mania Con.  It was immediately clear that they needed a brick and mortar shop, or what they so kindly called their “first home.”
Picture
They’ve found that home here at the New Egypt Flea Market Village in building 8W (in the back row just a stone’s throw from The Big Kid Store).  Inside their new shop you’ll also find BrutaliTea’s sister line of teas, The Bee’s Teas.  It’s the same delicious teas in a softer more family friendly packaging.  Why two lines of teas?  Their teas are amazing, but you’re Aunt Edna might not want “A NightPear On Elm Street” for her birthday so you can always get her some “We Make a Sweet Pear” instead.
Picture
All their teas are great hot or cold, but some are extra nice served icy cold.  “Smoke on the Watermelon” and “You Stole a Peach of My Heart” are two summertime favorites.

Once you’ve got your tea, you’ll need the perfect serving set.  From the hard core iced tea drinker to the dainty sipper, we’ve got what you need at The New Egypt Flea Market Village.

Just down the row at Mi Casa es Su Casa (Building #10W) we found this cool little surprise.  It’s a top hat ice bucket.  Okay, so you probably won’t be pouring any tea out of it, but we just couldn’t walk passed it without taking a picture to share with you.  Mi Casa es Su Casa truly lives up to its name.  One step inside and you know this isn’t just Kathy’s shop, it’s a little bit of home that she shares with you.  She’ll welcome you in with a smile.  The TV’s usually on and she has a beautiful array of items on display.
Picture
Wandering along the second row, we found this Vintage Libby Rose Tea & Lemonade set with pitcher and glasses at Hidden Treasures LB/Mamma’s Gone Junkin.  It’s perfect for sipping some “Raspberry Apple” or even “Mint to be Together.”  At Hidden Treasures LB/Mamma’s Gone Junkin you can also find some luxurious vintage items that are great for relaxing on hot summer days along with items you’ll treasure year-round.
Picture
Take a trip down to the market and beat the heat this summer with some iced tea.  Find a special blend to fit your pallet at BrutaliTeas & The Bee’s Teas.  Then stroll around to find the perfect set for serving it.  We’ve just shown you two of our finds in two shops, but the New Egypt Flea Market Village has over 40 shops full of treasures.  So come join us Sundays and Wednesdays from 8am to 2pm.  Pick your favorite tea and enjoy a delicious day of treasure hunting.  We truly do have something for everyone.

Paracord Creations Lands at the New Egypt Flea Market Village

7/8/2017

Paracord Creations landed at the New Egypt Flea Market Village this July.  The duo of artisans behind Paracord Creations deliver a variety of functional and fun products using a material with a rich history.
Picture
The parachute cord (commonly called paracord) that they use came into production during WWII.  The aptly named highly durable cord was first used as suspension lines on parachutes.  Military personnel quickly found many other uses for it including securing gear and roping up shelters.

When the versatile and strong cording became commercially available, its uses expanded rapidly.  It became a staple supply for campers, survivalists, hikers, and many others.

In recent years, the availability of vast colors of cord sparked the imagination of crafters to create functional jewelry such as bracelets.  In addition to being fun and fashionable, these bracelets can be unwoven in emergency situations where a strong rope is needed.

But don’t let the history and functionality fool you.  Paracord Creations has a wide selection of whimsical and fun keychains featuring everything from dragons, unicorns, cats, dogs, people, dolphins, and more.  Their bracelets have countless designs and colors to fit just about anyone’s liking.
Picture
If you don’t find the color, design or size you’re looking for, Paracord Creations is more than happy to custom make a bracelet or key chain right here at the market while you wait.  Just let them know what you want and while you wander around and visit a few other shops they’ll make a custom piece that suits your needs.
Picture
You can find Paracord Creations at the tables beside Georgia’s Seek and Find (building #29 in the second row).  Their prices are as affordable as it gets.  The friendly duo behind Paracord Creations consists of a lifelong artist with a need to constantly create and a retiree that keeps her hands and mind busy making new bracelets and paracord products.  Their focus is not on profiting but instead on creating, so their items are priced just a tad above the cost of the supplies.

We’re happy to have Paracord Creations as the newest member of the New Egypt Flea Market Village community.   We hope you’ll stop by and give them a warm welcome.
